Sacred Music
"We must have music. It is good for our souls. It reminds us of the beauty of God’s world. And through music, through making music or listening to it, we can thank God. Music is one of the best ways to pray.”
-Pope John Paul II
Being part of music ministry is not only a way to serve the parish, but also a wonderful opportunity for fellowship, community, and spiritual growth.
If you are interested in joining the choir, please send Joseph an email or see him after one of the weekend Masses!
Adult Choir
The Adult Choir serves the parish by leading and enhancing the prayer of the Mass through sacred music. The choir usually sings at the 9:30 a.m. Mass, as well as for major feast celebrations, including Midnight Mass and Easter Sunday and various Holy Days of Obligation. Rehearsals are usually held on Wednesday evenings in the Church or Side Chapel.
Children's Choir
The Children’s Choir is open to children in 2nd through 8th grade and offers young parishioners the opportunity to lead worship through song. The choir sings one to two times each month at parish liturgies. Students from Saint Mary School also sing regularly at the weekly School Mass.
Cantors
Cantors serve an important role in leading the congregation in sung prayer during the Mass. Through the psalm, Gospel acclamation, antiphons and hymns, they help guide and encourage the full, active participation of the assembly in the liturgy.
"He who sings prays twice."
-St. Augustine
